Good resolutions: to make them or not ? If many question these decisions at the beginning of the year, for others, they constitute a first step, a projection towards well-being.

Practice physical activity

This is undoubtedly the number 1 resolution of the French. And for good reason, a source of well-being, sport is associated with a reduction in the risks of diabetes, high blood pressure or cancer, as well as a reduction in cardiovascular mortality. Unfortunately, this resolution is also often quickly abandoned along the way.

To be able to maintain regularity throughout the year, it is better to start slowly. It is also advisable to choose your sporting discipline according to your personal tastes and your schedule. If you're not the least bit sporty, always remember to take the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Walk at a brisk pace as often as possible…hellip;

Stop smoking!

Behind the resumption of sport, it’is undoubtedly one of the most widely expressed resolutions… If you haven't taken the opportunity during the tobacco-free month(s), it's high time to put an end to the bad habit of smoking. Tobacco is responsible for nearly 75,000 deaths per year in France (cancer, cardiovascular diseases…).

To truly achieve this, stop completely. The gradual cessation would ultimately have only limited effectiveness. Furthermore, reduce as much as possible – at least at the beginning – temptations (evenings with smoking friends…). Of course, if many believe that all this is just a “question of will”, a little help can be welcome. For more information, contact Tabac info service on 39 89.

Limit your alcohol consumption

Why not start the year by setting yourself the challenge of Dry January ? In short, don't drink a drop of alcohol from January 1st to February 1st. A welcome challenge for our liver, which is heavily used between Christmas and New Year's Day. But also to fight against excessive and chronic alcohol consumption.

If we know that, even at low doses, alcohol increases the risk of cancer, hemorrhagic stroke (CVA) and heart rhythm disorders, reducing consumption also improves daily well-being: the skin is fresher and more beautiful, sleep is improved… hellip; without forgetting the money savings…

Don't forget your mental health

Finally, physical health is obviously essential, but there is no question of forgetting mental health. Especially since it influences general well-being. So, take care of yourself. Avoid sources of stress and practice meditation or yoga to put the odds in your favor.

Also remember to disconnect from digital devices and social media from time to time. As exciting as these digital tools can be, they can make us addicted and their use can become problematic. We all need reality, direct human contact, to recharge our batteries in nature.
