The FDSEA and the Young Farmers of Nîmes finally postponed the day of action to this Thursday, January 25. The Alésien demonstrators will regroup in Maruéjols-les-Gardon and La Calmette before going to Nîmes. Impacted by the increase in taxes and environmental standards, the farmers and breeders of Alès are also responding to the call of the unions, and will find themselves with their colleagues from Gard, blocking the entry from the A9 motorway.
"The agricultural world is experiencing a very serious crisis and is rightly showing its anger. I would like to show them all my support as well as that of the elected officials of the Departmental Council,” recalled Françoise Laurent-Perrigot, president of the Departmental Council. If some are still waiting for Thursday afternoon for the call from the Confédération Paysanne to demonstrate, certain figures from the Alesian agricultural world such as Patrick Gravil, President of the cattle breeders' union (Bovigard), will be in the procession. "To be able to go demonstrate, I'm working a double day to compensate for tomorrow, like many other farmers", testifies the latter. "Fed up is general in all sectors. We started with the action of the panels being turned over, but they didn't listen to us, so it's going up. There will be a lot of us tomorrow,” maintains Mathieu Duplan, also a cattle breeder.
