An agricultural shed catches fire in the middle of the night near Lunel, flammable products evacuated, nearly 40 firefighters mobilized

L’incendie s’est déclaré vers 2 h du matin dans une exploitation située à proximité de l’aire de Nabrigas, le long de l’autoroute A9. Aucune victime n’est à déplorer.

A fire broke out during the night from Sunday to Monday, May 20, in a large agricultural shed located between Saint-Géniès-des-Mourgues and Lunel-Viel, near the ;rsquo;Nabrigas motorway area, along the A9.

Straw, fuel and fertilizer in construction

The alert was given around 2 a.m. Nearly 40 firefighters were dispatched to intervene on this 1 400 m2  covered with photovoltaic panels, which housed bales of straw, an agricultural machine, but also a fuel tank and dozens of bags of fertilizer, the latter presenting a risk of explosion. The firefighters evacuated and secured these products.

The fire was brought under control around 4 h 30

The use of three water hoses made it possible to limit the spread of the fire, which was brought under control around 4:30 a.m. Surveillance was maintained until daybreak. No casualties were reported and the intervention did not require the evacuation of the farm.

The gendarmes from Lunel’s company intervened. They were able to establish that the disaster was of electrical origin.
