An experiment on Enedis Linky meters to limit the electrical power of homes: what results, three months after start-up ?

In February 2024, nearly 115,000 people located in Puy-de-Dôme took part in a test consisting of reducing the electrical power of homes. This experiment used the Linky meter from the Enedis company. Three months later, the assessment was carried out.

At a request from the government, 115,000 people participated in this quarterly experiment, cites TF1. The residents of Puy-de-Dôme saw electricity at home limited to 3 000 watts for three periods of 2  hours each : from 7 h to 9 a.m., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and finally from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., constituting the usual electrical peak time slots.

A 20% reduction in electricity consumption

This power limit allows us to preserve the essentials, once again reminding TF1. These are "the light, the freezer, the internet box, the computer and the television". However, it is impossible to use a washing machine or a large electric heater in these particular conditions.

"The objective of this test was to measure the technical feasibility of the device, its impact on electricity consumption and its appropriation by customers< /em> ", summarized Cyrille Moreau, the regional director of Enedis, who is delighted with a significant drop of 20 % in electricity consumption.
