Auteur d’une saison régulière éclatante, Béziers a pu compter sur la triplette Clément Ancely, Samuel Marques et Gabin Lorre, pour le porter sur le podium de Pro D2.

“How dare you not mention Storti ? Tupuola ? Nkinsi ?” We anticipate the questions, it was difficult to only bring out three names which have greatly contributed to the success of Béziers this season. Raffaele Storti, top scorer and record holder of the championship (21 tries) made the talk, but will unfortunately miss the final stages due to an injury.

L’ASBH has found its Holy Trinity this season. The father, Samuel Marques, 35 years old, arrived at the Raoul-Barrière stadium this season. The son, Gabin Lorre, 22, made his professional debut in the Béziers jersey two seasons ago. Finally, the Holy Spirit, Clément Ancely, from Béziers by birth, went through the training of the ASBH and who returns to the club with the captaincy.

Samuel Marques, precious barker

With boundless energy, barker in the middle of “his big”, precious with his footwork… Samuel Marques greatly influenced the results of the Hérault club. Before his arrival, after the World Cup, Béziers had difficulty winning at home, losing his away matches. His contribution, like that of his compatriots Storti and Fernandes, allowed the group managed by Pierre Caillet to sign a series of eight victories in ten matches to place at the top of the ranking.

"He is capable of being 200 % in what he does, he has the qualities to “driver” a quality squad like that of Béziers", explained Christian Labit, his former coach in Carcassonne.
With 209 points scored, the man who recently announced he was coming out of international retirement to challenge the Springboks, is the fourth best scorer in Pro D2.

Gabin Lorre, gold in bars

Gabin Lorre has also burst onto the screen this season, so much so that Usap and quite a few other Top 14 teams are interested in the man who started rugby at RCO Salagou. 13 tries in 24 matches, fiery canes, numerous assists for his friend Storti and a silky left foot for the 22-year-old full-back.

Author of four drops, including a monumental one of almost 60 meters in Rouen, the number 15 from Béziers will be one of the spearheads of the ASBH during this barrage against Brive, team against whom he scored a double, last February 29 during the victory in Béziers (34-15).

Clément Ancely, captain courage

Finally, Clément Ancely discovered the Raoul-Barrière stadium. Not as a spectator, we suspect that this native of Béziers must have set foot there in his youth, but as a professional player and captain of Béziers. Passing through Bayonne, Massy then Grenoble, the third line was offered the opportunity to return “home” last summer.

"Béziers must play the final stages every year", he confided earlier in the season, in our columns. Leader of the sidelines and combat with a headband on his head, Ancely was injured in mid-February in the ribs and now seems to have recovered perfectly for the deadline that faces him and his teammates.
