Automobile: the Chazel team in force at Monte-Carlo

Le team Chazel a désormais ses habitudes à Monaco où aura lieu dimanche après-midi la remise des prix. Midi Libre – AURELIEN VIALATTE

The structure based in Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort is fielding six cars at the start of the 92nd edition of the Monte-Carlo Rally. The beginnings of a busy 2024.

It’s a meeting to which the Chazel team is more attached than to any other. This Thursday, January 25, the Monte-Carlo rally launches the festivities for the 2024 season and begins a first deployment of force for the pro structure of Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort. While the Automobile Club of Monaco was forced to leave many crews on the sidelines to respect a regulatory limit of 70 entrants, the Cévennes team offers itself a sort of record by fielding no less than six cars!

The Monte-Carlo is a myth and, for us, the most important rally of the year

"The Monte-Carlo is a myth and, for us, the most important rally of the year, clearly announces Louis Chazel, who supervises this family team alongside his father Renaud and his sister Victoire. We are obviously very happy not to have been impacted by this limitation of staff. After having fielded four crews in 2022, then five last year, we have the chance to continue our progress."

Two Peugeot 208s, two Clio RC3s and two Alpine A110s

A multi-brand team, Chazel Technologie Course will watch over two Peugeot 208s this weekend, two of the new Renault Clio RC3 with all-wheel drive and two Alpine A110s, respectively driven by Frédéric Perrard, Olivier Morini, Ghjuvanni Rossi, Damien Oberti, Armand Fumal and Éric Royère. Enough to be represented in multiple categories and to be able to cherish the hope of celebrating some successes on Sunday at the port of Monaco.

Doubling down on rallies

As for the post-Monte-Carlo period, this year it promises to be quite busy again. "In rallies, we are going to work harder, in France with the Alpine Trophy but also in the World Cup where we have already set foot in 2023", explains Louis Chazel, who is active to finalize the latest budgetary agreements with everyone.

The title is up for grabs in the Alpine Europa Cup

As for the circuits, the coming months will hardly leave any more weekends off for the Gardois. Winner of the last two editions of the Alpine Europa Cup, the Chazel team is preparing to put its title back on the line, once again banking on the emerging talent of its young recruits. Here again, it’s time for final negotiations.

At the same time, the team will continue and expand its involvement in the French and European GT4 championships. Two Alpine A110s will be regularly out at this level, including one shared by Lorens Lecertua and Matéo Herrero, two gifted young people on whom the Chazel family has great and legitimate hopes.
