The Gard department is still kept on orange alert. Up to 200 mm of cumulative precipitation expected in the Cévennes. The road network is minimally impacted at 6 p.m. No significant damage noted.

Météo France maintains Nîmes, the Cévennes and the entire Gard department on orange alert for the risk of flooding this Saturday March 9, late in the afternoon. An alert that had been issued at the start of the day.

According to the first records, the intensities observed are of the order of 10 to 20 millimeters of precipitation depth per hour (5 to 10 mm in the rest of the Gard) in the wettest parts of the Gard , or in Cévennes. The Monica depression therefore generates this turbulent weather which also concerns the neighboring departments of Ardèche and Lozère.

Road conditions

For the moment, no damage has been reported and the road network is not too impacted.

The Gard Departmental Council indicates that several bridges are closed to traffic: three in the Piedmont sector in Massies on the RD 284 A, near Thoiras, but also, since 6 p.m., those of the Grand Turning at Peyremale (RD 386), the low point on the Vis between Alzon and Vissec (RD 814), fording the Vis at Vissec (RD 814), Cassagnoles bridge at Vézénobres (RD 106) and the submersible bridge of ;#39;Anduze (RD 129A).

In addition, in the Vigan area, the RD 25 is closed in Saint-Laurent-le-Minier. A diversion is in place locally. The state of the roads can be monitored on the website inforoute.gard.fr.

These bad weather conditions, however, led to the evacuation of vehicles parked in the Arènes, Casino and Fairground car parks in Beaucaire, the dismantling of Luna Park, and the closing of the gates of the Bench seat because the level of the Rhône will be high this Saturday evening.

The greatest vigilance is required on the roads of Gard at the end of the day because the rains are expected to increase in intensity.
