On December 9, the Official Journal announced the abolition, in 2024, of the famous “green” card, proving that your vehicle is well insured. The green document provided by your insurance, as well as the small supporting sticker to attach to the inside of the windshield of your vehicle, are no longer necessary.

You will have to continue to present the green card until April 1st

The fact remains that insurance companies continued to send the documents in question, for insurance contracts beginning on January 1. Is this a bug ? Not at all, actually. Because the measure will come into force on April 1. Not before. Until then, it will be necessary to continue to present insurance documents.

As Les Numériques points out, “the presentation of the insurance certificate and the presence of this sticker remain mandatory for the moment. Offending motorists and drivers of motorized two-wheelers and three-wheelers incur a fine of 35 euros.

In the event of an infraction, the increase in the fine may reach 150 euros

Worse: in the event of an infraction, an increase will be possible, of up to 150 euros. Suffice to say that we will have to wait a little longer before parting with the famous sticker and the green card that goes with it.

With the disappearance of the green card, your insurer will send you an information document, called "Insured vehicle memo". It will be sent only once, when you take out your insurance contract, and you should keep it carefully. It will also be available in digital format, via the customer area of ​​your insurance company.
