Coach of SO Millau, Baptiste Majorel, architect of pleasure

Majorel: “I was well received by the SO Millau family and I owe them a lot.” Jean-Louis Bories

Sunday May 26 (3:30 p.m.) at home, Millau plays the first round of a double confrontation with Sarlat, the winner of which will be promoted to Federal 1. A pleasure for an entire club, but also a man, l’ coach Baptiste Majorel.

The man is humble and discreet. Irremediably highlights the collective. But the fact remains, while the Millavois are at the dawn of experiencing one of the most important moments in their history, the contribution of the architect Basptiste Majorel is significant.< /p>

Majorel is 40 years old and settled in the city of gloves around ten years ago. "I come from a family of rugby players from Gennevilliers in the Paris suburbs where I grew up", says the technician.

The former scrum-half was even crowned French Federal B champion with his club 20 years ago. "A major injury to my forearm made me end my playing career early and as I loved sport and transmitting it, I naturally became an educator then a coach with young people and then seniors, he remembers. I also drove the women of Gennevilliers with whom I experienced my second French champion title."

Family and holidays, Aveyron in the heart

The coach is employed by the city of Millau as a sports instructor for schools and an association. His passion is rugby, of course. He has been there since he was 6 years old; but in general he loves sport, all sports. Her two children also practice a sporting discipline: Lili, 15, crossfit, and Mael, 11, obviously, is at the Millau rugby school. A family story, which took it to the South.

"I was employed at the Gennevilliers club full-time with a good situation; but with the little one, we decided to turn the page on Parisian life and change the living environment for the children and the family, he says. Aveyron was obvious, my dad is from Campagnac, we often came there on vacation and in addition my brother Julien has been based in Millau for many years."

He thus naturally joined the Millau club despite other requests and, in his first season as an educator of the cadet group, he led these young people to the semi-final of the French championship. "I’benefited from the work done upstream. I have great gratitude for all the training in Milla with generations of quality and I thank all the educators. It’s a joy to have been able to work with people like Jean-Louis Caramel, Sébastien Sere, Cyril Hautcoeur, Jean-Luc Sigaud…"

Sharing and curiosity

Passion and humility fit the character well. But we can add competence. Because BaptisteMajorel completed training very early in the sport and obtained diplomas to accumulate experience and improve skills. "I am a curious trainer and I really like sharing with my colleagues because I believe that there is something for everyone to learn, testifies the one who will continue next year in Millau, with new traveling companions, Issaly, Sere and Lamprecht.

In Millau I trained with Didier Chouchan for a season and it was a human and rugby enrichment due to his past as a professional player and with Sebastien Petit for four seasons. A great meeting, he has Parisian origins like me, and he brought his touch to the project and the team with his vision of the high level via his professional past."

The Millavois mentor, while he obviously prepares his people to win, confides that despite the deadlines and the challenges, it remains only sport and leisure; and that its happiness lies in the pleasure taken by its players in playing together, while giving something to the spectators. "I was well received by the SO Millau family and I owe them a lot, he concludes. I feel good here, it’s good to live in, it’s peaceful and I’ve fallen in love with the region. Hopefully it lasts."
