The tragedy took place this Wednesday, June 26, around 11 a.m., at the beach where the Bambou hut is installed in La Grande-Motte.

A 69-year-old Grand-Mottois drowned this Wednesday, June 26, around 11 a.m. at the beach where the Bambou hut is installed (Esplanade Jean-Baumel).

According to the first investigations, carried out by the gendarmes of the Lunel company, the unfortunate man, who apparently did not know how to swim, was seen, initially, walking in the waves, where he stood.

Except that the swell present in the area must have carried it offshore. He was in fact seen by another person, a few moments later, floating on the water, inanimate. Immediately rescued, he was taken out of the water and laid down on the beach where first aid was given to him, while waiting for help to take over.

Unfortunately, despite lengthy cardiac massages, this sixty-year-old could not be revived. According to the gendarmes, this is the first drowning of the year on the Montpellier coast. Let’s hope she doesn’t call others. Vigilance is required.
