“Each of our soaps is born from an anecdote”: Yohann Boisrobert, master soap maker based in Millau

Yohann Boisrobert makes soaps with various virtues in his workshop shop on rue Droite, in Millau. He shares his know-how during a discussion with customers.

Following the Covid 19 pandemic, Yohann Boisrobert needed a change. Originally working in the public transport sector in Brittany, the former network manager radically changed jobs. “I no longer saw myself in my place when I got up every day”.

Settling in Millau in 2020, the young man met, a few months later, the creator of the Savonnerie du Larzac founded about fifteen years earlier. “He is the one who made all the machines you see in the workshop. He also created some soap recipes, using sheep, which is omnipresent in the region. The maker of these machines is an engineer. He prefers to design the machines rather than use them. That's why he left them in the closet”.

Yohann Boisrobert decided to breathe new life into the Savonnerie de Larzac in June 2021, by opening his workshop boutique in Millau on rue Droite. “There is a soul in this workshop,  it was my trigger”. The young man picks up some recipes from his predecessor but quickly decides to try new ones.

The originality of the shop: customers can see the craftsman at work. “I made it a shop-workshop because I have nothing to hide in my way of working. I sometimes leave soaps to dry here and there, and if there is soap dust on the floor, it is not a big deal.”

The benefits of sheep's milk soaps

“Each soap maker comes to add his touch”, smiles Yohann. Although he is not required to do so, a toxicologist validates all of the artisan's recipes. The simple sheep's milk soap is suitable for infants and pregnant women. The shop's flagship soap is the thyme soap, the first recipe invented by the young man.

“Sales of the one with the cade come in just behind !”, says Adeline Isambert who is working with Yohann Boisrobert for the season. Thyme has the virtues of being antiseptic and healing. “Each of our soaps is born from a story, an anecdote”. A new recipe should see the light of day soon.
