Eight young Aveyron residents received their diploma following the Universal National Service

Les huit jeunes originaires de l'Aveyron qui ont participé au SNU ont été mis à l'honneur.

Anne-Marie Escoffier, former minister under the presidency of François Hollande, Claudine Lajus, academic director, Frédéric Brachet, commander of the Aveyron gendarmerie company… there were lots of people this Saturday morning in the courtyard of the Béteille barracks, in Rodez, for the official diploma ceremony for eight young people who had completed the National University Service (SNU). These students, aged 15 to 17, educated in the three districts of the department, constitute the fifth promotion of the program designed by the government in 2019. And by a certain… hellip; Gabriel Attal, today Prime Minister.

"Involving young people in the life of the Nation"

"The SNU aims to further involve young people in the life of the Nation and make them aware of defense and national security issues”, explained the’at the time ;rsquo;politician. The young Aveyronnais volunteers thus participated in various training days. With several themes: secularism, fight against radicalization, support for people with disabilities, search for people with Alzheimer's who are on the run, awareness of the dangers of drug consumption… "Your commitment to this citizenship journey, at your age, honors you", greeted several of the participants on Saturday, including Bruno Bolis, departmental head of the gendarmerie cadet association.

In his speech, the latter nevertheless made a point of recalling that the SNU was "absolutely not preparation for entry into the gendarmerie and a military career&quot ;. "Each of these young people will choose their professional future", he concluded, to warm applause. In 2023, 24 young Aveyron residents took part in the program.
