Salsigne: the victims of the roundup finally honored

#AUDE –The plaque is waiting to be installed. Thirteen names can be read there. Those of the thirteen Jewish miners who were rounded up on January 31, 1944 in Salsigne. That day, the Gestapo came from Carcassonne with René Bach – his French agent, torturer interpreter – and six German soldiers. Ten days later, convoy No. 68 took away the 13 men. Interned in Drancy, the thirteen from Salsigne left there in a convoy « of 1,500 people crammed into cattle cars ». This January 31, 2024, in Salsigne, eighty years later, thanks to an amateur historian and two residents of this commune in Aude, a ceremony at the miners' memorial will honor the memory of these thirteen Jewish workers deported in 1944 . A prayer for the dead should be said by Ann-Gaëlle Attias, rabbi from Toulouse: a kaddish for these victims and against the oblivion which buried this event.

Jean-Louis Chauzy re-elected president of Ceser

#OCCITANIE – Jean-Louis Chauzy was re-elected president of the Occitanie Regional Economic, Social and Environmental Council this Tuesday in Toulouse, with 60.6% of the votes in the first round of voting. On this occasion, Ceser was renewed for more than 37% of its members, and is approaching parity with 47% women within this assembly. As a reminder, the Ceser « fulfills a consultative but obligatory function upon referral to the Region in order to carry out work to always better meet the economic, social and environmental expectations of citizens and stakeholders in the territory ».

#GARD – Germaine Alignan, 96 years old, Gardoise de Garons, has just obtained her diploma as the oldest candidate for first flight. Germaine was able to make her first flight in the air last Thursday, with two of her sons at the controls. They flew over Aigues-Mortes and the Salins du Midi, before heading towards Sète and the Etang de Thau. « She was over the moon and would have liked things to move a little more… », confides his son.
