Football: for Cathy Durand, president of Asfac, “it was a very emotionally rich season”

Parmi les fiertés de la présidente frontignanaise, le rayonnement de la Ligue des Petits Princes.

The president of the Frontignan club looks back on her first year at the helm of the club.

In December 2023, Cathy Durand became the president of the Asfac. During a semester of presidency, she was able to observe, appreciate and, ultimately, draw up her first assessment. What appears is that she will have brought her different vision, her skills and knew how to make the necessary decisions. A well-fulfilled mission which seems to delight those around him within the management committee.

The season has just ended. What do you remember from this first ?

Pleasure above all! I achieved what I was asked to do. Post-Covid required cleaning up the accounts, a rational orientation, and more sophisticated administrative management. We tried to get back into the green financially, it was essential to restore a little comfort to this "big" association that is the’ Asfac.

What is your record on a purely sporting level ?

I must admit that my football knowledge has progressed a little, I am well surrounded and advised by specialists… Everyone has their own domain!

The exercise was emotionally difficult. The team was struggling and then reacted well. Above all, I remember the solidarity, cohesion and seriousness of the staff and players. We finished sixth in Regional 1 and fourth in Regional 3, it remains a good season.

I also want to emphasize that our terrain problem has greatly penalized us. Almost the entire season, without a stand and without a refreshment bar, it was complicated for our supporters and, we must not hide it, it was a shortfall for the finances.

What do you remember from this season among young people ?

Like many clubs at this level, we know that young people are a priority but we also know that it is increasingly difficult. Like everywhere, we come up against people who see M’Bappé everywhere and for whom the Champions League final takes place every weekend when their child plays…

As far as we are concerned, we wish to continue the assignment of competent educators, pedagogues towards children and diplomats towards parents. Here too, it is not always easy. We know there are problems, we are working to resolve them.
I would also like to come back to the League of Little Princes. I was won over and I was able to appreciate the work accomplished by the club and its volunteers. It’s a showcase, I would like to thank our partners, our sponsors and all those who contribute to ensuring that this event is appreciated by all those who participate, from north to south, from east to west, all clubs tell us of their delight at having come to Frontignan.

Cathy Durand would like to point out that she is signing for an extension of at least one year and that a dissolution of the steering committee is not on the table. I subscribe to read more
