Football: on the Thau basin, a first round for the opening of the season

The first round of the Coupe de France will be played this weekend of August 24 and 25 for district and R3 clubs.

This Saturday evening, US Villeveyracoise and Stade Balarucois will officially kick off the 2024-2025 season. The first round of the Coupe de France will concern district clubs and residents of the Regional 3 championship.

Two duels to follow

The move of the "Vert et noir" of Mathieu Munoz constitutes the poster child for this opening since they will be opposed to the promoted R3s of Puissalicon-Magalas. The winner will receive the Atlas Paillade in the next round.

For the rest of the Thau clubs, apart from the US Villeveyracoise of the De Felice-Moureaux duo which will receive an R3 club, the meetings seem balanced. Two D2 duels, for the Pointus and the Domitiens, will be particularly observed. The changes that have appeared on the benches and significant recruitment suggest that we should expect new ambitions. We will also note the reception of a D1 club in Mireval. Crowned with their rise to the next level, the Mirevalais, as is often the case, can create a surprise. A qualification could offer them a more affordable match in the next round, there too we seem well equipped for a first tour de force.

A dynamic to launch

The Mézois, with a deeply reworked squad, will travel to Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone. Éric Miramond knows that this kind of early season match is important for the start of the championship, he sets the tone. The Lapeyradois in Montagnac will have to be wary, we can trust the experience of the Castell-Jalbaud pair to warn his flock. Finally, the Sète team from Social will host the Bédariciens from Entente Grand-Orb, an opportunity for them to gauge themselves against a team from a higher level.
