L’entraîneur de Valence Ruben Baraja a annoncé vendredi 13 septembre que son attaquant Rafa Mir était suspendu par son club pour deux matches après avoir été accusé d’agression sexuelle la semaine dernière.

The 27-year-old was arrested on September 2 following a complaint by two women accusing him and another man of sexual assault, before a judge ordered his conditional release. Valencia said on Monday that it had opened disciplinary proceedings against Rafa Mir while “respecting the presumption of innocence".

“This week he is training on the sidelines and next week he will be reinstated to the squad. Once the two-match ban is over, he will be part of the squad like any other player and I will decide whether he plays or not,” Ruben Baraja said at a press conference on Friday.

Mir denies it all

The Spanish forward, who denies the accusations, will miss Valencia's trip to Atlético Madrid on Sunday in La Liga and the home game against Girona next week.

“Throughout this process, there have been “situations in which it was very difficult to make a solemn decision that would please everyone, but we tried to do things with common sense,” continued the Valencian coach.
