Françoise Laurent-Perrigot wants to “defend sustainable agriculture”

Très mobilisée en faveur de l’agriculture, la présidente du Conseil départemental du Gard entend mettre en avant la production locale "d’une exceptionnelle qualité".

Comment le Conseil départemental du Gard se mobilise-t-il pour ses agriculteurs ?

We did not wait for the recent mobilization to stand alongside our farmers. Those who feed us and shape our landscapes need unfailing support, all year round.

By entering 1.20 M€ in the 2024 budget for sustainable agriculture, by supporting farmers affected by climate disasters (nearly 600,000 euros this year), by renovating the Mas d’Asport for agricultural research and the reception of schools, the Departmental Council acts for Gard agriculture.

The Show is of particular importance this year and the demands were more than legitimate to preserve their professions, their operations, their future and with it that of our territories and future generations.

What does agriculture represent in your department ?

I defend sustainable agriculture, which gives prospects to those who do it and to those who consume it. Gard is a largely rural department. Agriculture occupies a major place in the department's economy, it is part of the DNA of our territory. Our farmers are the guardians and ambassadors of our heritage.

How to promote Gard agriculture ?

Will be present on our stand “Le Gard, alongside its farmers”, our AOP/AOC or IGP (wines, olive oils…), and of course the emblematic products notably from 5 remarkable sites of taste in our department. Alongside us, our loyal partners from “Bienvenue à la ferme” will also be present. who promote our producers and artisans as well as the young apprentices of rural family centers who provide friendly cooking and service.

How to consume the production of your territory ?

Our primary objective is to highlight our local productions which are of exceptional quality. Today we have a departmental brand “Le Gard, Militant du Goût” recognized as a true sign of quality and authenticity of products. Our farmers will be proud to help you discover all this heritage during this Show through moments of exchange and sharing. This is the most important. Our stand is a showcase, but it is also a sensory experience. The attractiveness of our territory begins there.
