French pétanque championship in Fenouillet: stunning Lyonnais, overthrown Héraultais

Des Lyonnais renversants, des Héraultais renversés. – Sandra Godard

the essential This weekend, the second national edition in mixed triplet was played in Fenouillet (Haute-Garonne).

Due to the dispersion to the four winds of part of its fine female flower, the Lyon club had somewhat fallen into line since last year and the title brought back from & rsquo;Auxerre by Nadège Baussian-Protat and Mouna Beji. This Sunday, this same Rhone standard-bearer returned with great fanfare to the forefront. And this Sunday, July 21, on the occasion of the second national mixed triplet edition of the history of the FFPJP.

Not without difficulty, the first named and her two young associates (Mickaël Feyertag, the bombardier who passed through Rumilly, and Jacques Dubois known as “Dawson”) reversed a trend that was compromised to say the least, at least on the last step. Indeed, Océane Martin, Gérard Delom and Frédéric Cazes were in a strong position for a long time (9-3, 10-7, 11-9 etc.) but the money-time, even more in our opinion than in Sin-le-Noble last year, was fatal to them: 13-11.

No hat-trick for Gérard Delom

Too bad, because an incredible hat-trick was within the reach of the legendary Gersois already consecrated with the seniors and veterans a few weeks apart.

Our representatives quickly found themselves in tough conditions even though the playing surface in the Toulouse suburbs did not present anything tricky. Only one team was able to compete in the final of the evening. This is the one composed of Nathalie Rochette, Jean-François Schatz (the son of the legendary and late "Passo") and Philippe Stievenart.

The members of Lattes Sports Pétanque were surprised by a modest Yvelin team who were happy to find themselves in the round of 16, Saturday evening, before being "put back in place"& ;nbsp;by the future finalists of Lalanne-Arqué. In the wake of its spearhead Philippe Stievenart, author of yet another festival on the shooting range, the champions of Hérault, under the watchful eye of their supporters, got off to the best start: 3-0, 4-0, 6-0…

A little to everyone's surprise it must be admitted, their rivals held back in order to pick up the score: 10-9. A "smoking shot" (i.e. the voluntary movement of the "cap"), just one, was enough to seal the fate of this strange encounter. And to say that by having the big Mussidanese engine (Nelly Peyré, Richard Feltain, Thomas Hubatz, excuse me!) on the razor's edge (13-12) in the previous round, the protégés of Carole Mercier had set a milestone of choice on the royal road… So go the balls and their mysteries…
