From this Monday, January 8, six weeks of work will impact traffic between Nîmes and Arles

As part of its policy of upkeep and maintenance of its assets, Vinci Autoroutes is undertaking major work to renovate the bridge which allows the A54 motorway to cross the Petit-Rhône at the level of the commune of Fourques, between the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône and Gard.

Starting this Monday, January 8, major work will be undertaken by Vinci to renovate the bridge which allows the A54 to cross the Petit-Rhône at the level of the commune de Fourques.

Vinci thus specifying that "this work is carried out during periods of less traffic, in order to limit disruption to traffic, and consists of changing the supports and road joints of the work. Thus, this work will take place over six weeks, until'next Friday, February 16, and will impact traffic conditions on this bridge .

Dating from 1988, this bridge, with a length of 240 meters, requires, according to Vinci significant renovation work: this involves changing the equipment ;rsquo;support, located between the deck and the piers of the bridge, as well as the roadway joints of the structure. Traffic on the structure is however maintained. Operations will take place from Monday morning to Friday noon, day and night, to "reduce inconvenience to users".

A speed limited to 90 km/h

As Vinci specifies, "during the week, traffic will be switched to a single apron in order to guarantee the best safety conditions for everyone. Drivers will thus travel on one lane in each direction. During weekends, traffic will be on the two initial lanes in each direction. Speed ​​will be limited to 90 km/h throughout the construction site area for the duration of operations.
