Gard Rhone: a budget surplus of €3 million, an indicator, according to the president of the Agglo, of good management

In addition to the budgetary situation and "low debt which reflects the good health of the EPCI", the president of the Agglo du Gard rhodanien Jean-Christian Rey announced in the community council the ;inauguration on July 10, 2024 of the bypass of the hamlet of L’Ardoise in Laudun-l’Ardoise.

The Agglomeration of Rhone Gard is doing well. It was its president, Jean-Christian Rey, who suggested this at the community council on Monday, June 24. Among the indicators of this good health, "a low debt rate and a main budget which generates a surplus of 3 M€&quot ;. And even if this result is partly due to the fact that there were new recipes, "it also reflects the outcome of a lot of work and of good management in a context of inflation."

Conference of Mayors

Always in the good news department, there is the expansion of the scope of mobility offered by the EPCI (1).  Soon, the free shuttles will circulate well beyond urban areas or the outskirts of Bagnols-sur-Cèze and Pont-Saint-Esprit, the two towns currently benefiting from the service. Service offers will be made to other localities, from Laudun-l’Ardoise to Aiguèze via Saint-Julien-de-Peyrolas, Saint-Alexandre, Vénéjan, Saint-Etienne-des- Sorts, according to modalities which will be presented at the conference of mayors next week. “We are going to have choices to make. We are going to work on expanding the service network” promises Jean-Christian Rey.

Inauguration of the Rhodanienne

“Another subject that is not neutral either, declared the president of the Agglo, is the vote for the last time in the mobility budget, on the financing of what was called the Rhodanienne." Hear, the bypass of the hamlet of L’Ardoise in Laudun-l’Ardoise which will be inaugurated on July 10, 2024. The Agglo will have finished paying 2.70 M euros. As a reminder, the work cost 30 M euros; of which 15 M euros; financed by the State, 5 M euros; by the Department and 5 M euros; of the Occitanie Region.

Ten new faces on the trombinoscope

We will also remember from this community council the wind of renewal which blew in the hemicycle of the multicultural room which hosts the deliberative assembly. The overview of the Gard Rhone Agglomeration has changed a lot. Ten new faces emerged in the hemicycle thanks to the intermediate elections which led to changes in municipality in Saint-Etienne-des-Sorts, now administered by Stéphane Marcellin, but also in Pont-Saint-Esprit and its new team. The new elected officials, including Valère Segal, future mayor of the second city of Rhone Gard, held their place despite the unprecedented nature of this marathon council with an 87-point agenda.

"No sterile opposition"

The community council session of course began with the installation of the new councilors to whom the president of the Agglo Jean-Christian Rey welcomed. There was the first speech by the future mayor of Pont-Saint-Esprit. "We hope to be able to bring you our uniqueness and at the same time strengthen our commitment to the development of our territory , he said. We do not have and will have no inclination towards sterile opposition, lousy attacks and useless little phrases."< /em> From the outset, the new leader of the municipal majority of Pont-Saint-Esprit raised the subject that is close to his heart, that of health.
