Gérard Depardieu affair: why François Berléand decided to remain discreet about what he thinks of the controversy ?

In an interview with the daily Libération, French actor François Berléand spoke about not taking a public position in the Depardieu affair.

If the Gérard Depardieu affair has received unprecedented media coverage, many figures in cinema and culture have spoken out on the subject. However, the French actor François Berléand did not do the same. In an interview given to our colleagues from Libération, he explains this reason.

No position taken

François Berléand did not wish to follow the movement of many other cinema celebrities by positioning himself against or in support of Depardieu, through stands or public declarations. He remained discreet, without taking a position following the "Additional investigation" concerning the behavior of Gérard Depardieu towards women. If the French actor decided this way it is not for nothing.

Although he has commented on political news, notably the appointment of Rachida Dati as Minister of Culture, François Berléand remains evasive and dodges the Depardieu media affair. The closeness with the children, Julie and Guillaume (died in 2008), as well as the affection he has for them, relates Télé Loisirs. The latter, however, clarified that he did not support or push down his cinema colleague.

Backpedaling

Many other personalities were not shy and spoke publicly on the subject. Some have even turned back, like Pierre Richard, Jacques Weber, or even more recently Kev Adams.

At the beginning of January, Kev Adams made certain statements regarding the Gérard Depardieu affair which were interpreted as support for the actor . "For now, I wish him the best", he said. While on February 14,  "Retirement home 2" will be released in theaters, the film was screened this Sunday as an opening at the Alpe d'Huez Festival.

Kev Adams took the opportunity to come back and explain himself about the controversy. "I had the unfortunately to say that he was a great actor, the next day in the press it was said that I defended him. I do not support it in any way, the only people I think of are the victims", he clarified on the microphone of Télé -Leisure.

"There are things I don't accept, no matter how great an actor you are. There is a limit in life, and when this limit has been exceeded, there is no excuse for it, he assured.
