La démission d'Elisabeth Borne quelques jours avant la date de ratification espérée par les acteurs du Parc naturel régional des Grands Causses, reporte d'autant la signature  de cette nouvelle charte qui entérine l'extension de son périmètre d'action.

Subject of various overhauls since its entry into force from 1995 to 2007, the constitutive charter of the PNR, true « roadmap » which embraces the different actions and orientations of the park, had to be reviewed for the period 2024-2037 in anticipation of the extension of its perimeter.

Seven in Occitanie

Scope of action which now includes 26 new municipalities in the north of Hérault for a total of 119 municipalities on a territory with an area of ​​3,805 km². « The aim of this extension is to build a strong hinterland with regard to the urban area of ​​Montpellier and to integrate the entire Causse du Larzac into the same project territory. validates the Park which is now waiting for Gabrial Attal to ratify the latest version of the charter – which must be validated by signed decree. Before arriving in Matignon, the charter will have to go through the office of Christophe Béchu, head of the ministry of ecological transition and territorial cohesion.

« We hoped to be able to get out of it at the end of last year. Being optimistic, we are now considering a signing in March, we confide in the Millavois corridors. The Grands Causses Regional Natural Park was founded on May 6, 1995. It was then the 27th regional natural park in France – which has 58 – tied with that of Chartreuse, and the second in the territory of the Occitanie region, which today has seven. It shares its southern border with a regional natural park created previously, that of Haut-Languedoc. And its northern border with the Aubrac Regional Natural Park.

2023, a pivotal year for 14 parks in the network

Each of the 58 regional natural parks in France has a local territory project which directs the actions of the Park and its partners. In 2023, it will be the Parks à deadline 2025 who present their project to the public the Federation, there are 14 of them, as many visits and opinions to date. return. Between the months of March and October 2023, 6 Parks will present their new Charter and welcome the Federation to their territory.  The Pyrenees-Ari&egeoises received the Federation last March, at the end of May it was the turn of Queyras, At the beginning of June there are the Montagne de Reims and the Marais du Cotentin and Bessin, at the beginning of July there will be the Perche, in October the Brenne as well as the Avesnois, the Ardennes and Pilat.
