A water story has been ruining the life of a resident of Doubs for two years. After work carried out by the municipality around her co-ownership, she faced impressive water leaks and had to pay 19,211,euros to her supplier.

In Beure, near Besançon, in the Doubs, a resident is faced with a significant water leak problem, reports France 3. Following work carried out by the municipality around the building where she lives, her water bill has skyrocketed.

This civil servant now owes her supplier €19,211, according to the regional television channel. "4 to 5 liters escape per minute, even with the taps closed", she told our colleagues.

“Something else to do but argue”

An expert report dated April 2023 confirms damage to the buried pipes at the foot of the building, the breakage of the drain pipe and impacts on the supply line.

Contacted by France 3 Franche-Comté, the mayor of Beure said he had “something else to do but argue”. The conclusions of the three expert reports carried out in total did not convince him: “It's complete nonsense, it's a tissue of lies”, he told France 3.

She sees no way out

The resident sees no way out of the situation. The leak is still there and her bill continues to climb. Small consolation: the mother obtained from her supplier the suspension of her direct debits.
