Her return flight was canceled: stuck in Malta, she was forced to pay 279 euros for a ticket to return home

On Monday May 20, 2024, a Swiss traveler almost got stuck in Malta due to a technical problem encountered by the airline Swiss.

His Pentecost weekend could have lasted a long time. On Sunday, while going to Malta airport to check in for her flight the next day to Zurich, a passenger had the unpleasant surprise of seeing that her return ticket had been cancelled, reports Blick.

Anomalies on the way out

Christina wanted to go to Malta for a few days for the Pentecost weekend. Buying a return ticket with the Suiss company, she boarded on May 18 towards Valletta.

As soon as online check-in, she notices that her seat in economy class is no longer intended for her, and that’ she is "upgraded" in Business. However, a little before the plane's departure, a flight attendant finally tells her that she must return to the seat initially taken. "C& rsquo;was like a 'walk of shame' when I was ordered to go to the back just before takeoff", she tells our colleagues.

Return to repay

A few days later, after spending the weekend in Malta, things become even more complicated. She checks in on Sunday for her Monday flight to Zurich.

She quickly realizes that she can no longer access her reservation. The Swiss company informs him that Lufthansa has canceled his ticket, in question, his "no-show". However, the vacationer has indeed taken her outbound flight.

She sends photos of her trip to the company which refuses to believe that she actually went to Malta with one of its flights: "Swiss customer service told me that I couldn't have gone there because it wasn't registered in the system."

She finally had to buy a return flight, cheaper than the one-way return, in order to return home, subject to a few new twists and turns at check-in.< /p>

For the company, contacted by the Swiss media, this is "a regrettable isolated case" and suggests a reimbursement of 279 euros for the second ticket purchased. "We always check our processes after such irregularities", guarantees Suiss.
