Horse riding: a young rider from Sète achieves national recognition

Coralie Salmero, ici avec son cheval Baila, savoure son titre de championne de France en saut d’obstacles.

Coralie Salmero, in show jumping, was crowned French champion in Lamotte-Beuvron.

The Thau basin shone during the last French championships, with Coralie Salmero as a superb flag bearer. With a gold medal around her neck, the rider thus obtained a first consecration after fourteen years of practice and passion.

Born nineteen years ago on Île Singulière, Coralie Salmero started horse riding at the age of five at the Sète equestrian center. She then joined the Les Onglons equestrian center in Poussan, before joining the Poney Club d'Axelle in Lattes Maurin, to join the “competition” team.

A great progression

In May 2022, she finished fifth in the Occitanie championships in pony 2, contributing to the Poney club's crowning as the first regional club. In September 2002, Coralie Salmero then went to study horse riding in the Landes, in Gamarde-les-Bains, at the Écuries du Landran. Her progress was significant and she took advantage of it to start eventing (CCE).

In June 2023, she obtained her Equestrian Instructor diploma and then, the following year, won the title of Landes departmental champion in “Derby Cross” Club Élite. A performance that opened the doors to the French equestrian championships, organized at the end of July in Lamotte-Beuvron, under the colors of Team Landran in the “Club 1" young riders category.

Faultless

And for her first participation in the national event, in the show jumping competition (CSO), Coralie Salmero was not going to mess around. After the first clear round on Sunday, she finished in first place out of 73 participants. On the second day, Monday, the round was completed again without a single fault and allowed her to maintain her rank. Finally, during the final on Wednesday, she again finished her round without a fault, tied with another rider. She then had to go through the jump-off to confirm and win the gold medal.

Little girl's dream

« I would like to thank my parents, my family and my friends, who have followed me since my beginnings”, declares the new French champion. “I am also thinking of the entire Team Landran who encouraged me throughout these championships, Cécilia the owner of the Écuries and Clara my coach who allowed me to realize my childhood dream”

Coralie Salmero will return to Sète in November, once her BPJEPS exams are finished. She then hopes to find a structure that will trust her and will be able to bring future riders to the French championships in Lamotte-Beuvron. With a French champion in its ranks, it's always easier and more inspiring.
