“I want to thank the entire medical team for taking such good care of me”, Jonas Vingegaard left the hospital

Le coureur danois Jonas Vingegaard, double vainqueur en titre du Tour de France, est sorti de l’hôpital, douze jours après sa lourde chute lors du Tour du Pays basque, a annoncé son équipe mardi.

"It's time for me to leave the hospital. I want to thank the entire medical team for taking such good care of me, and everyone for the moral support. […] Now it's time to fully recover", indicates the rider in a message published by Visma-Lease a Bike on social networks.

Violent fall on the Tour of the Basque Country

Heavily injured in early April in the collective fall during the 4th stage of the Tour of the Basque Country, Vingegaard had successfully undergone surgery on his collarbone last week.

Victim of fractures to the clavicle and several ribs, the Danish runner also suffered from a pneumothorax and a pulmonary contusion.

If the duration of his absence remains unknown, Vingegaard's main objective this season is the Tour de France, which begins in less than three months (June 29 & July 21 ).
