In brief in Lozère: gendarmes named OPJ, tribute to Missak and Mélinée Manouchian, the pig festival in Peyre-en-Aubrac

Gendarmes named OPJ. The judicial police officer qualification results were recently published. The Lozère gendarmerie has 10 new judicial police officers (OPJ) in its ranks, with a success rate of 100%. They will soon be able to display the precious crest.

Missak and Mélinée Manouchian. After the entry of Missak and Mélinée Manouchian into the Panthéon, the departmental media library, rue of Schools in Mende, should be named “Missak Manouchian” on March 16, on the occasion of a tribute ceremony.

Nice gesture!

Sophie Pantel, president, and Johanne Trioulier, vice-president of the departmental council announced on Facebook that the departmental media library in Mende will be named after the Manouchian, on March 16 (after approval of the ;assembly, which is beyond doubt). The gesture is highly symbolic and it inscribes in the marble of the pediment of one of the buildings of our institutions, one of the names of those who fell for their homeland, French or not, eighty years ago. And thereby reminding us that, among our compatriots, dark collaborationists were strutting about. On March 16, the great-niece of the two pantheonized will come to Mende, to the inauguration of the plaque and will dedicate the book (republished) by Mélinée Manouchian dedicated to her husband. Like a premonition, in her last letter, Missak Manouchian wrote (original syntax): "I am sure that the French people will know how to honor our memory with dignity."  It’s done, sir.
