Les tarifs réglementés de l'électricité vont augmenter de 10 % à partir du 1er février. Découvrez comment limiter au maximum l'impact sur votre porte-monnaie.

At the start of 2024, the French will have to pay for regulated electricity prices. Indeed, from February 1, the electricity bill will increase between 8.6% and 9.8%, or even a little more, depending on the contracts, reports Moneyvox

According to simulations provided by Bercy, subscribers to the basic option of the regulated tariff of EDF (10.6 million in 2022 ) will in fact see their average bill increase by 8.6%. The average bill for a household on the blue rate will increase from 771 euros in 2023 to 837 euros in 2024, or 56 euros more.

The increase will be even greater for the prices of the off-peak option. The increase should be 9.8%, or 160 euros more, on an average announced at 1,667 euros for 2024.

As you will have understood, the increase will be significant for the more than 21 million consumers who have a contract at the regulated EDF tariff.

"It's a difficult decision, but it's a decision that is necessary to ensure our investment capacity in new electricity production capacities and then to definitively get out of it whatever it costs", declared the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire on TF1 Sunday January 21. "We're getting back to normal."

"This is the last increase in this tax for the year 2024." reported the tenant of Bercy. What tax is he talking about ? Bruno Le Maire is referring here to the domestic tax on final consumption of electricity (TICFE), which had been reduced by the government as part of the tariff shield, activated in 2021, in order to limit the impact of the increase in electricity prices on the markets.

"The next one will be on February 1, 2025, we will return to the situation which was that before the tariff shield", also announced Bruno Le Maire.< /p>

So, how can we get around the surge in prices ?  Antoine Autier, head of studies at UFC-Que Choisir, advises Moneyvox to bring in competition. Indeed, if you cannot escape the increase in taxes, some operators offer discounts on the price of energy.

Looking at the competition

Moneyvox explains that according to the energy mediator's comparator, an EDF customer with the Base option by example, consuming 2 400 kWh per year with a 9kVA meter, will have to pay 734 euros per year. An amount without the increase of February 1st. For the same consumer profile, it is possible to find a contract with Primeo energie at 539 euros per year, a difference of around 200 euros.

How is such a gap possible ? "Suppliers can adapt their strategy because they have found room for maneuver on the price of the&# 39;electricity", explains Antoine Autier to Moneyvox.

So to avoid an excessive increase in your electricity bill from February, do not hesitate to compare competitors' offers, you could come across price differences important!
