While a draft agreement had been validated and unveiled on May 17, providing for an increase in the price of medical consultations with a general practitioner which will increase to 30 euros in December, this is in the process of being validated, thus implementing the price increase, which has been discussed for months.

This is a negotiation that will have lasted a year and a half. The consultation of general practitioners, currently at the rate of 26.50 euros, will increase to 30 euros in December, according to a draft agreement between private doctors and Health Insurance, about to be validated, reveals this Friday, May 31 France Info. The official signing is due to take place on 4 June.

The Health Insurance proposal received the approval of the Syndicat des médecins libérales (SML), a specialist union that is essential to the implementation of the measure, on Friday evening.

Increase and savings

In addition to the increase in the price of the consultation, other increases are planned. For a long consultation, it will be 60 euros. As for specialist doctors, the consultation will vary from 30 to 60 euros depending on the type of practitioner.

For patients, however, the increase should not be felt, since the share of health insurance coverage will continue to amount to 70% and 30% to the mutual insurance company.

France Info specifies that in return for their increase, doctors have been instructed to make savings by prescribing fewer sick leave periods.
