Un forum et des activités ludiques attendent encore le public, ce samedi 9 mars 2024, au Chapitre.

On the occasion of International Women's Rights Day, this Friday March 8, 2024, the Lozère prefecture and numerous associations organized an action entitled "the Flame for gender equality. "We want to raise awareness among young people and the general public in a fun way, with sport as the theme given that we are in the year of the Olympic Games"< /em>, recalls Charlotte Simon, departmental delegate for women's rights and equality. To do this, a forum was set up at the Jean-Jacques-Delmas stadium. Quizzes, dart games, documentation, "who is this?", physical activities… the participants were able to test their knowledge and become aware of gender stereotypes, still too anchored in our unconscious.

The 4th grade class from Villefort college traveled to Mende for this day. The 23 students played non-contact mixed rugby, participated in workshops and were able to interact with the associations present at the Chapter. "This day enters into the well-being project, explains Karim Hani, education assistant (AED) at the college. They are in a human-sized college and they are aware of harassment, equality, violence…"By participating in the workshops, they become actors and not observers. "They are used to interventions in class, but this is different, continues the AED . They are the ones who create the moment."

At the end of the afternoon, round tables allowed for dialogue and debate with sportswomen and managers on the place of women in sport, from amateur to professional level.

The action continues this Saturday, March 9 and is open to the general public, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Chapter, in Mende.

Thirty people braved the cold and rain, this Friday March 8, 2024, to gather at Place de la République, in Mende, at the call of the CFDT, the CGT, the FSU, Solidaires and Unsa. A mobilization which demanded "real equality" between men and women. Their demands: equal pay and careers; the revaluation of predominantly female professions; quality public services meeting needs, particularly in early childhood; means to combat gender-based and sexual violence.

The demonstrators obviously took the opportunity to welcome the inclusion in the Constitution of the freedom to resort to voluntary termination of pregnancy (abortion), under the slogan "we won". Before the end of this gathering, a minute of silence was also observed in tribute to all the victims of ;a feminicide since the start of the year.
