Jonny Greenwood, Radiohead guitarist, hospitalized in intensive care following an infection: his European tour is canceled

Jonny Greenwood, Radiohead guitarist, was rushed to hospital due to an infection. The August dates of his European tour with the group The Smile are canceled.

Jonny Greenwood, the British guitarist for Radiohead, was hospitalized in intensive care following an infection. His tour with the group The Smile, planned in Europe in August, is canceled, reports BFMTV.

An infection

"A few days ago, Jonny became seriously ill following an infection which required emergency hospitalization. Part of his treatment was done in intensive care, we can read on The Smile's Instagram account, this Friday July 12 in the early evening.

"Luckily, he is now out of danger and will soon be able to return home. The medical team responsible for administering Jonny's care has asked us to cancel any commitments until he has had time to fully recover. This is why The Smile's European tour in August is canceled", the message continues.

Out of danger

Although he is out of danger, he now needs rest to recover, said the group, a trio made up of the two Radiohead figures and Sons of Kemet drummer Tom Skinner.

The tour, which consisted of 16 dates, was to visit numerous European festivals this summer, including Rock en Seine in Paris on Sunday, August 25, but also in Bordeaux on August 26 at the Arkea Arena and at the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium, August 18.

Jonny Greenwood is 52 years old and one of the founding members of Radiohead. He started The Smile with fellow Radiohead member Tom York, and Tom Skinner, the drummer of Sons of Kemet.
