Jumping balloons for children recalled throughout France: they contain carcinogenic substances

Jumping balloons for children sold in particular at fairgrounds and school associations are recalled due to risks of poisoning: they contain carcinogenic substances and must be destroyed.

Toys more dangerous than they seem: this Tuesday, April 9, the government site Rappel Conso relays a recall issued by the wholesaler of children's toys Bernard Bimbeloterie BBI concerning Unicorn jumping balloons from the LG Imports brand.

These items, sold between June 1 and December 31, 2023 at fairgrounds, but also to school associations and traders, are recalled throughout France. In question: a risk linked to the presence of substances "carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic".

The reference of the recalled jumping balloons is 4744 and their lot number is 205A023005. These items come in individual plastic bags with colored cardboard.

Dangerous for children

Recall Conso indicates that this recall also results from a "breach of the regulations Standard NF EN 71- 1". As explained by our colleagues from Parisien, this regulation comes from a European directive which sets the general requirements to be taken into account during manufacturing toys.

This directive provides that no harmful and toxic substance can migrate in contact with the child if he or she puts the toy in his or her mouth, a criterion to which jumping balloons do not meet, thus endangering children.

Destroy the toy
