Following the announcement by Prime Minister Gabriel Attal to strengthen controls in mass distribution on the origin of agricultural products, operations are increasing in the Gard. Thus, this Thursday morning, at the Intermarché de Caveirac, teams from the Departmental Directorate for Population Protection carried out checks in the fruit and vegetable sections, but also wine, in search of food. possible deceptive practices.

"We started these operations last week and we are continuing them, explains Serge Combe, deputy director of the DDPP du Gard. Gard is not limited to Nîmes and the big cities. We must also act in hypermarkets, supermarkets or small grocery stores."

Until now, "a certain number of non-conformities have been noted during the various checks, notes Serge Combe. It's generally more negligence than a desire to deceive the consumer. According to Serge Combe, the inspection carried out in Caveirac made it possible to point out certain shortcomings: "origins to be verified on certain vegetables" and the presence of bottles of Spanish wines "among French wines", when they should have been clearly differentiated in the storage. 

The idea of ​​the operation is to "protect the interest of the consumer and that of the producer." And, if real cheating is discovered, to "go back through the channels to cut it short" to possible operations of disloyalty towards the consumer.
