Ils sont 55 candidats à briguer le poste de député sur l'une des neuf circonscriptions de l'Hérault pour ces législatives. La préfecture a publié la liste officielle ce lundi 17 juin. 

The legislative elections follow one another and… are not alike. We have never been so close to parity with 26 candidates, i.e. 47.27% against 42 .6% in 2022.

From 115 candidates in 2022 to 55 in 2024

The game of alliances within the New Popular Front contributed to reducing the number of candidates. Exit the socialist dissidents of 2022, make way for a contingency unity to block the RN. Or two Republican candidates and a Reconquest to face the outgoing MP Patricia Mirallès, Secretary of State for Veterans and Memory. 

If the presidential majority is present everywhere, it could also be a matter of unity of circumstance, with on one side the presidential Renaissance party and that of ;#39;Édouard Philippe Horizons. There it is the future battle for the presidential election which can be read implicitly in the distribution of the candidates. 

Towards a new dissolution in 2027 ?

The duration of the mandate constitutes one of the other peculiarities of these legislative elections. Elected for a five-year term, deputies could only serve three years if the future President of the Republic decides again to dissolve the National Assembly to reconcile the two calendars. A new unknown for a new democratic equation.
