MAP. Weather alert: risk of snow, vigilance, negative temperatures… update on the situation in the region

Ce mercredi 10 janvier 2024, la vague de froid se poursuit et n'épargne toujours pas l'Occitanie. De la neige pourrait même tomber en région. 

The unprecedented cold episode since 2018 continues. This morning in Occitania, temperatures are still hovering around 0° C, while the mercury dropped well below last night. 

First snowflakes in the Occitan plains ?

Snow could fall in the Cevennes and even on the plains in the west of the region from this Wednesday, a risk prolonged until Thursday morning.& nbsp;

The snowy episode could gradually reach the south-west of France. "This Wednesday, on the Lozère, sometimes significant snowfall may occur, specifies the government website. During the night from Wednesday to Thursday then Thursday morning, in the interior of l'Aude and the Pyrenees -Orientales, an episode of snow at low altitude is expected. The quantities of snow on the ground are still uncertain. It is advisable to keep informed of the evolution of vigilance, notes the weather forecast site. 

Temperatures remain low

And if the worst of the episode seems to be behind us, temperatures remain quite low. While snow and ice have disrupted traffic, particularly in Île de France, this Wednesday, Météo France still places seven departments on orange alert this Wednesday, January 10. 

This Wednesday, the thirteen departments of the region are placed on snow and ice yellow vigilance. In France, 81 territories are affected by this alert level.
