Marketed for almost 10 years, a sunscreen recalled throughout France due to nanoparticles

Alors que commence la saison où l’on ne se déplace plus sans crème solaire, des tubes commercialisés entre 2014 et 2023 font actuellement l’objet d’un rappel.

If you have Delrieu brand sunscreen, check that your product is not affected by a recall currently in progress. The government website Rappel Conso published this Tuesday, May 21, a recall sheet for the index 50 + sun cream from Delrieu laboratories, sold in spray and marketed between March 1, 2014 and March 30, 2014. ;nbsp;September 2023.

The item code to check to see if your product is affected is as follows: 3760171490198. Conso recall indicates that all batches are affected.

The recall procedure runs until September 30. Consumers in possession of this cream can request a refund by contacting  06 13 92 42 50.

Nanoparticles

Regarding the risks posed by this sunscreen spray, no details are provided. It is simply stated that these nanoparticles can cause internal damage. In sun creams, we can find titanium dioxide in nanoparticle form and is authorized in cosmetics as a dye and as a UV filter.

These nanoparticles have been the subject of numerous questions regarding their safety for the health of consumers. "According to available scientific data, the Scientific Committee for Consumer Safety (CSSC) has confirmed that the evaluated titanium dioxide nanoparticles, which are used at a concentration of up to 25% as a UV filter in sunscreens, can be considered safe for humans, says the European Commission. However, it reminds that manufacturers are required to respect this content, but are not required to indicate the concentration on the packaging.
