Max Roustan at school: “Another problem-free return to school”

Les petits élèves de la maternelle du faubourg du Soleil ont repris le chemin de l’école.

For the little schoolchildren of the Faubourg du Soleil kindergarten, it's the big day. Céline Chabrier, the school's director, assisted by Murielle Ferreira, an Atsem who is celebrating her 30th return to school, welcome the “middle” children before the youngest students arrive a little later.

“I have 17 middle and 14 little ones in the class. 31 is a lot, says the teacher. So we planned a two-stage return to school. The middle pupils quickly found their feet. For the little ones, it is sometimes less obvious at the time of separation from the parents."

The school in the Faubourg du Soleil should benefit from the opening of an additional class, in the small section. “We will be able to accommodate nine more little ones. For establishments located in the Rep + zone (priority education network, editor's note), it is requested that children be enrolled in school as early as possible."

Emergency work for 130,000 €

This summer, the establishment underwent major work. "Termites were discovered in the roof frames. It was necessary to intervene urgently, and in particular to change the lintels", explains Aline Guérin, director of the childhood and youth education center at Alès Agglo.

Total cost of the operation: nearly 130,000 €.“Thanks to the dialogue that has been established between the City, National Education, and technical services, we are able to anticipate the work and optimize the budgets.”

Accompanied by Christian Chambon, deputy for education, the mayor, Max Roustan, who arrived at the school well before the students, appreciates the work carried out as an expert… Until he discovers various construction-related waste that has not been removed, at the back of the building.

A memorable rant from the elected official, always with carefully chosen words (that the children did not hear!). The reaction is dazzling. He picks up his phone and demands the immediate arrival of the team that removes the bulky items.

The intervention is dazzling, it only takes a few minutes to see the municipal agents arrive. Putting his words into action, Max Roustan has the rather heavy traffic in the suburb cut off and guides the truck.

Still under the supervision of the mayor, the team clears away the forgotten protective plastic, cardboard boxes and some ruins. The school staff appreciates the speed and efficiency of the intervention.
