Ce jeudi 15 février 2024, le Sénat rejette la proposition de loi concernant un congé menstruel qui permet un arrêt de deux jours par mois pour les femmes aux règles douloureuses.

This Thursday, a text in favor of the establishment of menstrual leave in France was defended in the Senate. This provides, for women suffering from incapacitating period pain, a work stoppage of up to two days per month, without a waiting period. The senators finally said no, reports BFMTV.

Fears of abuse ?

The text was rejected by 206 votes to 117 in the upper house, specifies the news channel. The right and the numerous centrist allies fear  "unwanted side effects" of this & ;quot;menstrual leave".

"We lost the opportunity not to be early, but to accompany the lead' evolution of society. It's regrettable for the Senate and for women who will still have to wait, said socialist senator Laurence Rossignol.
