The Héraultaise was informed by Gabriel Attal this Thursday evening that she will continue her mission with the Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu.

It was the Prime Minister who called her this Thursday around 7 p.m. to tell her the news. Montpellier Patricia Mirallès, Secretary of State for Veterans and Memory since July 2022, will continue her mission within the government. She was reinforced in her position, still alongside the Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu.

A few minutes before the official announcement, Ms. Mirallès expressed her emotion to Midi Libre.“Even if it's not the first time, when the Prime Minister informs you of his choice, it remains a very powerful moment. In this choice, I reflect recognition of the work accomplished throughout these last few months. I am also happy for my team who did a wonderful job and to whom I owe a lot".

Commemoration and big plan for the injured

Her name had not been mentioned among the ministers in the spotlight, in particular because she worked to prepare the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation which will mark the year 2024 but also, we say in Macronie, because she has the confidence of the President. Nevertheless, the rumors, in the last 24 hours, of a possible arrival of François Bayrou in the Armed Forces had somewhat sown doubts among those around him. "J& #39;would have felt like we were abandoning veterans, she simply comments.

The Montpellier elected official will therefore be able to unpack the boxes that she had had to prepare with the resignation of Elisabeth Borne as required by protocol. She will get back to work this Friday. "I'm happy to be able to continue what I started". Among these missions, there is of course this year of commemorations but also, less publicized, “the great wounded plan”. simplify administrative procedures and strengthen support. "With the primary objective of ensuring that the soldier's only concern is to care for himself and rebuild himself", says -she.

A reinforced political weight ?

On a more political level, this new appointment in a government marked by numerous departures, could strengthen it locally. Member of Parliament for the 1st constituency of Hérault since 2017, after being elected deputy to Philippe Saurel, Patricia Mirallès could influence the next municipal elections in Montpellier. For now, the person with an atypical background, daughter of returnees and trader before entering politics, repeats that she is & quot;focuses on its mission". Now in the government of the youngest Prime Minister of the Fifth Republic.
