En raison de risques de cybersécurité, le service de streaming ne sera bientôt plus disponible sur certains appareils anciens.

Bad news for fans of TV series and other content offered by Netflix: in a few days, the streaming application will no longer be able to be opened on certain connected television models.

At issue: the security update of the platform, which excludes certain televisions purchased several years ago. According to Netflix, the old digital protocol allowing certain televisions to play videos, such as films or series on the streaming platform, could now be hacked more easily.

Few recent devices are affected but it is not impossible that your secondary TV is affected.

Televisions purchased 10 to 14 years ago

As Netflix clarified to our colleagues at Parisien, this suspension should affect 1.7 million devices in the world over 260 million subscribers, and would only concern televisions purchased 10 to 14 years ago.

Among the TVs that lose their compatibility, we find the LCD screen models from Sony: Bravia and Legacy. The D, E, F ranges in Full HD screen from Samsung, and finally televisions from the old LM 6410, LM860V, LM 670S or LM960V ranges manufactured by LG.

It is possible to reconnect your old set via an HDMI key such as Chromecast or Apple TV: note however that 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TVs will lose their compatibility with the Apple TV. rsquo;American app.
