Legislative. The Republicans (LR) party convened a new political bureau this Thursday, June 13th "to validate" the exclusion of its president Eric Ciotti approved Wednesday by this same body, he indicated in a press release.

“We have largely collected more than a quarter of the signatures of the LR national councilors who cover the national territory, demonstrating that the executives, activists and members do not support an agreement with the RN”, assures the party in a press release, adding that “the end is near” for Mr. Ciotti. Fire in Montpellier. A fire of electrical origin broke out this Wednesday 12  June, around 11 p.m., in the nursery of the departmental childhood family home, located at 1 rue des Tourterelles, Aiguelongue district in Montpellier. 

The candidates are becoming clearer. In Gard and Hérault, the RN candidates have revealed themselves. In Hérault, two constituencies are without RN candidates, in favor of an LR candidacy as part of an agreement on the right. Furthermore, in Gard, the only candidate allied with the majority, Modem Philippe Berta, has announced that he will not run again. 

Ukraine at the heart of the G7. Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries meet on Thursday for their annual summit during which they will seek to strengthen their support for Ukraine and present a united front in the face of the political and economic ambitions of China.

New at the Olympics. The Olympic village for the Paris Olympics (July 26-August 11) will include for the first time a crèche, as well as a space for the "mental health of athletes", the International Olympic Committee announced on Wednesday.

Be careful of sand. The Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) warns of arrival of an episode of dust from the Sahara this week. Air quality is expected to deteriorate in southeastern Europe and the Mediterranean, with a peak in fine particle pollution reached this Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14.
