Nîmes Olympique: striker Abdoulaye Sané second recruit of the winter transfer window

"It's on very good track", said Frédéric Bompard on Friday after Nîmes Olympique's victory against Rouen (2-0). It is now signed. At the end of the day, this Monday, January 29, Nîmes Olympique announced the recruitment of Abdoulaye Sané, 31 years old. The Senegalese striker, who was tested by the Crocos since last Tuesday, has signed up until the end of the season. It will be numbered 24.

An experienced player, 140 Ligue 1, Ligue 2 and National matches under his belt

Abdoulaye Sané has been free since the end of his contract, in June 2023, with Churchill Brothers FC, an Indian D2 club which he joined after a year without playing and a short experience (one season) in Saudi Arabia, in Al-Taawoun.

Trained in Rennes where he played in Ligue 1 (15 appearances), this 1.80 m player has also worn the colors, in France, of Laval, Red Star and Sochaux. no experience, as desired by the technical staff, since he played 96 Ligue 2 matches (18 goals including 10 with FCSM during the 2019-2020 season) and 29 National ( 13 goals).

Larcier: "He's a striker made for the National"

"He proved, he scored wherever he played. He’s a central striker who has both feet and moves quickly. I like his profile and he would be a second very good recruit,” explained the crocodile coach last week, not worried about his physical state despite his many months without competition : "He is very well and he is motivated."

"He’is a 9, capable of scoring goals and he's not clumsy either in the last pass, specified for his part the sports director Sébastien Larcier. He scored goals in L2 but he was not a top L2 player. On the other hand, I think that he is a top National player, that he is made for this championship."

He will make his debut with Camara, another rookie, at Le Mans

Abdoulaye Sané will try to demonstrate it this Friday, February 2 at Le Mans. Like Ismaël Camara, offensive player from Epinal (N) who signed up last week for eighteen months but was suspended for the reception at Rouen, the Senegalese striker will in fact be part of the group which will travel to Sarthe.

Transfer window ended ?

With the signings of Camara and Sané, who will bring "more competition" (Bompard), is the winter transfer window of Nîmes Olympique over ?& nbsp;"There are still two days left, we'll see", replies sports director Sébastien Larcier, who will "try" to enlist a third element, perhaps in the form of a loan. Concerning possible departures (Nazih, Guessoum, Burner), "for the moment, nothing is changing".
