Orano Melox a inauguré officiellement mardi 18 juin son campus des métiers du recyclage sur son site de Chusclan, en présence du directeur général du groupe Orano, Nicolas Maes.

For three years, Orano Melox, world leader in the manufacture of Mox recycled fuel, which makes it possible to produce nuclear electricity, launched its recycling professions campus project located on the company's own site. ;nbsp;in Chusclan, next to Marcoule.

"We have observed that the professions in Orano must learn on our industrial sites&amp ;quot; explained Tuesday, June 18, the group's director of human resources and communications, Hélène Derrien, present at the official inauguration of the campus, in front of an audience of local elected officials, under -nuclear contractors and managers of the CEA and EDF.

"Virtual tools and physical tools"

"The particularity of this trade school is that it has added virtual tools with physical tools" said Corinne Spilios, director of recycling activities at Orano. The campus, "a training and acceleration tool, with the rise in skills of employees and those of its subcontractors, is grouped in a building of 1,000 m2 while waiting for another new building of 400 ;nbsp;m2 which should emerge from the ground at the end of 2025.

"The objective of this school is to transmit our professions and our ambition is to stimulate the regional educational fabric" declared the director of Melox, Arnaud Capdepon, who insists on accelerating training time thanks to the tools made available to trainees. "We have reduced the training of a glove box maintenance technician from twelve months to 4 months".

The director of Melox recalled that "the school of professions directly contributes to the recovery of our Mox production. From 50 tonnes in 2021, a historic low point, we went to 82 tonnes in 2023. We will seek 100 tonnes and ultimately 125 tonnes.

The ambition of the school is to train 250 people per year

The twenty certified trainers and trainees work in a non-radioactive environment and have at their disposal life-size models of machines used at Melox and innovative digital and augmented reality tools. The ambition of the school is to train 250 people per year in the Mox professions, but already, since its opening, 10,000 hours of training have already been provided there.

"Skills development" is part of the strategic axes of the Orano group, repeated the group's general director Nicolas Maes: improve performance, develop and build the recycling solutions of the future.

This year "Orano will recruit 2 000 women and men on permanent contracts. The group will hire 40% of its 600 apprentices" specifies the director of human resources. The nuclear industry will recruit 100,000 people in the next ten years.
