Alors que les habitants rêvent d’un îlot de fraîcheur sur ce terrain municipal, un immeuble doit être construit.

For years, this plot, which belongs to the City, has worried local residents and members of the neighborhood committee. Firstly due to "ruined buildings" which were eventually demolished. From now on, it’s his future that is in the spotlight. During the municipal council in December, responding to a question, Mayor Jean-Paul Fournier "indicated that this plot was promised for construction by a developer", is outraged by the team of the Gambetta-Révolution committee.
Concerned about the future of this land, located a stone's throw from Place Saint-Charles, the team had in fact organized its own investigation."We wanted the people of Nîmes to be involved in the reflection on the future of this public good as recommended by the Nîmes territorial social project. We developed a questionnaire, distributed in digital form and via a panel hung on the fence surrounding the plot. The operation was launched on July 5, 2023 and the panel was taken down on September 5. The 200 responses to this survey have been processed."

Almost unanimous responses to a survey

Answers which almost unanimously advocate "in this very dense urban area, particularly exposed to global warming", revegetation . "The respondents asked for an island of freshness where we can rest, play, have physical activity and which also serves to sort and collectively compost waste. They thus express their need to improve their living environment and their health."

A survey sent, in December, to mayor Jean-Paul Fournier and first deputy Julien Plantier. "Today with no response to our mail, with this refusal launched by the municipal council, we are wondering. When was the decision on the future of 4-6 rue Clerisseau taken ? Which people from Nîmes were associated with the decision?"

And the committee concluded, scathingly: "The mayor continues to manage the city's heritage without relying on democratic authorities , citizen expertise and common sense of users."
