The players of Boule joyeuse la Fanny d'Uchaud were beaten 12-2 in the final of the Occitanie championship. But their fine performance allowed them to qualify for the French championships.

In the club championship, the players of Boule joyeuse la Fanny d'Uchaud are like fish in water, displaying an irreproachable team spirit, a touch of family, the one that allowed them to become French champions in 2021.

This year again, in Samatan (Gers), in the last four of the Occitanie championship, the Uchaudois ensured and obtained their ticket for the French championships on October 11, 12 and 13 in Saint-Martin-de-Crau (Bouches-du-Rhône), their third participation in four years in this competition.

Paolo, the last of the Bonzi family

On the weekend of September 21 and 22, after finishing at the top of their classification group, the Gardois measured themselves in Tarascon with the debut, at the shooting position, of the last artist of the Bonzi family, the junior Paolo. The other members of the team: Elie Bonzi, Hervé Bonzi, Olivier Bonzi, Laurent Méjan, Jean-Louis Ricci, Olivier Médina and Fernand Penas.

With three wins out of three in doubles, with a comeback and an 11-10 success by the Ricci-Méjan duo, the Uchaudois easily won their match in triples (11-2) and thus reached the qualifying match for “France”.

On Sunday morning, Castanet (Haute-Garonne) held up well (two wins out of three in doubles) but the trio Olivier Bonzi-Ricci-Méjan did the job, winning 11-7 to validate the ticket for the French championship and the place in the final.

In the final, Perpignan was much stronger

In this final game for the title, the Boule du Moulin à Vent de Perpignan of the Pédragosa brothers and Cazorla did not mince their words, winning 12-2. “With this phenomenon of Cazorla in shooting, there is nothing to say. Our opponents were much stronger”, acknowledged Elie Bonzi.

With only one victory in duo to their credit, despite their legendary guts, the Uchaudois were unable to turn the table in triplets. No matter, they will be at the French championship and Paolo Bonzi, who will celebrate his 16th birthday a few days later, on October 16, will be at the – big – party.
