Rugby: Millau loses at home to Palavas for its first

Millavois start their season with a defeat. Midi libre – Théo Costecalde

SOM rugby saw victory slip away at the very end of the match against Palavas (23-20).

The headwind may have made the difference for Millavois. Well-positioned in the first half against Palavas, the South Aveyron players were leading when they went into the locker room (15-8, half-time). Enough to kick off hostilities for this new season. But not enough. In the second half, the South Aveyron players had less control of the ball. They still find solutions, but not enough to reassure themselves.

On the buzzer

Salvation comes from a former member of the house, Julien Caramel, now playing for Palavas. He scores the equalizing try (20-20) and the Héraultais continued to press in the Millau 22-meter box. The locals tried to defend their bases as best they could, with what they had left in their socks. Forced to make a mistake, they concede a final penalty, which was fatal (23-20).

Full summary and reactions to come.
