Rugby union: for RC Nîmes beaten at Rumilly, the defensive bonus, and that’s it

A trip to Haute-Savoie as a foretaste of the final stages for the Nîmes. Faced with Rumillians stung after their defeat in Dijon, the Nîmes knew that it would be necessary to tick all the boxes of commitment, intensity, rigor, discipline and realism to hope, finally, to return to victory outside their bases. It was a failure but the RCN at least limited the damage by obtaining the defensive bonus, we don't really know how.

“This team lacks character”

Benjamin Barnerias (RCN captain): "We report the expected minimum. We had a too light first half, with difficulties on the mauls. Face &agrav; a team full of desire, who didn't give up anything, our indiscipline cost us; Dear. For more than an hour, playing & fourteen, even &agrav; thirteen means necessarily putting yourself in difficulty."

Steeve Calligaro (RCN president): "The offensive bonus ? That was the minimum! This team lacks character, undoubtedly, outside. It’is, à each time, the same refrain. I'm disappointed! because, since the start of the season, we have been playing on alternating current. We will have to ask ourselves the right questions so as not to experience disillusionment."

Indiscipline and red card

The start was not reassuring. Penalized four times, lacking in conquest with two lost touches, punished with a yellow card, the Nîmes let Rumilly take control of the match (8-0). The essay by Captain Benjamin Barnerias was only an illusion, as the Haut-Savoyards dominated their subject…hellip; and the Nîmes. Rumilly played his luck bravely on all the balls, with success, as evidenced by this new try from winger Angelier (13-5).

With the second yellow card for second row David Gonzalez, synonymous with expulsion, the RCN's affairs became complicated. Rumilly took the opportunity to score a third try before the break (20-8).

The RCN has flouted its rugby

At the restart, the RCN continued to splutter its rugby while Rumilly recited a simple but effective score, like this powerful fourth try from its forwards, after a penetrating group ( 25-8).

Nîmes tried to react but came up against a solid defense, which was hard to break down. The Pouyleau pillar's try and Chastaing's penalty, at the very end of the match, however allowed the RCN to take a defensive bonus point. A lesser evil. Was it deserved ? That’s another story.
