In this poorly classified match in Regional 2, the two Gard clubs of Bagnols and Saint-Gilles were keen to save their season by winning this final of the Terroir Shields. From the start, the Saint-Gillois will take matters in hand. When those from Bagnols seem to have stayed in the locker room, taking no less than four penalties in ten minutes.

Result: Saint-Gilles took the opportunity to score the first try through their winger Ferrer. Enough to wake up the Bagnolais who took advantage of a good offensive sequence in front of the defense before sending their rear Harel in the interval, a try transformed by Teston Vigne. A few minutes later, this same flyhalf made a drop of more than forty meters (10-7) which propelled the RCBM into the lead. In this pleasant encounter, the two teams play every shot to the fullest, with the desire to have fun, not to regret anything when the final whistle blows. Of this champagne rugby, it is Saint-Gilles which takes the measure with a try from its opener Soler (17-10). The second half will confirm the feeling that the Camargue are patiently building their victory.

The reward of a "not easy season"

Disciplined, realistic, they rely on a strong defense, particularly in the ruck zones. A success which is also taking shape thanks to the foot of Lauret, who knew how to keep the Rhone Gardois at bay. And which delights coach Laurent Claron: "The season is not easy. We had to fight at all times to build, to put together a team, to get the guys to buy into this new project. With old and young players. I am even more happy that we beat a very good Bagnols team".
