“She is now far from France”: the creator of the Golden Owl confirms the end of the game 31 years later and promises a new treasure hunt

Michel Becker, co-creator of the game, spoke in a long video published this Sunday on YouTube.

End of the suspense. For ten days, the "owl hunters" have been waiting for confirmation that the treasure hunt they had been participating in for years, 31 years for the most determined, is well and truly over.

The co-creator of the game, Michel Becker, published a ten-minute video on YouTube this Sunday in which, still anonymously, he confirms that the enigma has been solved and that the 50 cm statuette and 10 kilos of gold, silver and diamonds, representing an owl, has been unearthed. “The solution provided is rigorously accurate. It defines very precisely the location of the cache“. The person or persons who dug it up called him on the night of October 2 to 3 at 10:58 p.m.  "I then hear shortness of breath, excitement, the password buried with the owl and the fresh, incredulous emotion that has not yet integrated the scope of the incredible event", describes Michel Becker. He had so far received 22,532 solutions, some of which were even close to the truth, but “The one that was validated that night is the only one that is correct”.

A new video in April 2025

To reach the goal, it was necessary to solve a series of 11 riddles, all very mysterious, published in disorder in a book published in 1993. In the video, Michel Becker did not reveal the solutions to each of these riddles. He announces the release of a film, in April 2025, which will then reveal all the details of this treasure hunt, including its location. A casting will even be offered to allow some participants to tell their quest. On the other hand, we will not know the identity of the lucky winners. “The Owl is now far from France”, he assures.

But for the many "owlers", the name given to all those who had set out in search of the rare bird, this video does not sound the end of the adventure. Surprise, Michel Becker revealed his intention to organize a new treasure hunt. “The new Golden Owl will fly away from exactly where the first one was buried on April 24th”. A first piece of information like a first enigma of this Owl II.
