Une patiente est morte début janvier 2024 aux urgences du CHU de Nantes. La direction de l'hôpital évoque un "pic de fréquentation" lié aux épidémies hivernales.

"Saturation"

Hospital management mentions a "peak in attendance" in emergencies caused by epidemics of flu, Covid and other winter illnesses.

The Force Ouvrière union, which revealed the death of this patient, speaks of "saturation" of the service with an average of 230 patients per day since the end of December, reports La Voix du Nord.

What about the workforce ?

Force Ouvrière also reports a shortage of beds in other departments of the hospital, which would explain this "saturation" emergencies while noting that the causes are multiple, according to France Bleu.

The management of the CHU specifies that in this epidemic context, the workforce is reinforced "as much as possible".
